A Nightmare on Elm Street is an upcoming 2010 slasher film It is a remake of Wes Craven’s 1984 slasher film of the same name and designed to reboot the franchise.The film stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger,a role made famous by Robert Englund, while Rooney Mara takes over the role of Nancy Thompson,originally portrayed by Heather Langenkamp. The remake is set to be released on April 30, 2010.

A question about one of the "dramatic effects" in slasher films…?

Whose idea was it really to have an unlucky victim’s extremities or head, if sliced through by a blade, remain in place for 3 seconds before falling off? I’m awfully curious about it… (The laser scene in Resident Evil is a good example of this and the opening scene of Cube)

That is just geninuely how it would happen in real life, like if you get shot in the head, you don’t fall down right away, you body reacts and you basically plop. It is a real reaction of the body, if someone were to (unfortunately) get their head chopped off.

Is there a correlation between slasher movies and George W. being a citizen born and raised there? ?

Why are most slasher films from Texas?

In slasher films why does the killer always strike while the victims are having sex?

And why is it that the one who ends up defeating the killer at the end of the movie is the innocent virgin girl who said ‘no’ to the sex and drugs? Is it social commentary?

John Carpenter once explained that those "victims" were always too involved with their signifcant other and unaware of a killer on the loose, or even anyone in the room. Not social commentary, just those "innocent virgins" were more aware of their surroundings. He got that same kind of criticism in the 70′s over Halloween.

Maniac is a 1980 American slasher film (though considered more of a splatter film), about a disturbed and traumatized serial killer who scalps his victims. It was directed by William Lustig and written by Joe Spinell and C.A. Rosenberg. Joe Spinell also developed the story, and stars as the lead character

Plot:

Frank misses his mother, who was killed in a car accident years before. She was abusive to him, and made money selling her body, but Frank still misses her. He tries to keep her from leaving him, and reform her evil ways, by killing young women and putting their scalps on mannequins which he displays around his apartment. Photographer Anna takes a picture of him in the park, and he pursues and befriends her. Is she the one he’s been looking for or just another mommy wanna be?
