The motif seems to have first been used in Neolithic India. The symbol has an ancient history in Europe, appearing on artifacts from pre-Christian European cultures. In antiquity, the swastika was used extensively by the Indo-Aryans,Persians, Hittites, Celts and Greeks, among others. In particular, the swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Mithraism — religions with over a billion adherents worldwide, making the swastika ubiquitous in both historical and contemporary society. The symbol was introduced to Southeast Asia by Hindu kings and remains an integral part of Balinese Hinduism to this day, and it is a common sight in Indonesia. It also was adopted independently by several Native American cultures.

In the Western world, the symbol experienced a resurgence following the archaeological work in the late 19th century of Heinrich Schliemann, who discovered the symbol in the site of ancient Troy and associated it with the ancient migrations of Proto-Indo-Europeans. He connected it with similar shapes found on ancient pots in Germany, and theorized that the swastika was a “significant religious symbol of our remote ancestors”, linking Germanic, Greek and Indo-Iranian cultures. By the early 20th century, it was widely used worldwide and was regarded as a symbol of good luck and success.

The work of Schliemann soon became intertwined with the völkisch movements, for which the swastika was a symbol of “Aryan” identity, a concept that came to be equated by theorists such as Alfred Rosenberg with a Nordic master race originating in northern Europe. Since its adoption by the Nazi Party of Adolf Hitler, the swastika has been associated with fascism, racism (white supremacy), World War II, and the Holocaust in much of the West. The swastika remains a core symbol of Neo-Nazi groups, and is used regularly by activist groups to signify the supposed Nazi-like behavior of organizations and individuals they oppose

My knowledge of New York geography is a little rusty, so all of these may be a bit of a trek for you. But I hope this list will be helpful. Also, if going to a physical store becomes too much of a chore, you could also explore online shops.

Hmm. You seem to be very wise when it comes to self understanding. The occult and spirituality, however, are not supposed to teach you who you are.

Religion teaches us the difference between good and evil.
But the thing about that is that no one can agree on the definitions of good and evil. That’s why there are so many different religions.

Some will claim that religions are about so many different things, and it’s true. They are. But when it really comes down to it, religion teaches us what it means to be good.

Spirituality is the rest of what makes up religion. Green tea, meditation, prayer, belief in a deity, rituals.

The Occult is a term used to describe everything in religion that is not spirituality. So whereas the former two are everything that is undebatebly good, the occult is usually interpreted as being bad. It doesn’t really have to be, though. It’s also interpreted as being any sort of magic not from the deity. That is considered, in some traditions, to be evil. In others, the occult is actually a form of spirituality, because some believe anything you can used to do good should be used to do good. This area has the grayest definition, which is interesting because it is also considered to have roots in shadow.

I’m sorry if I have not answered your question. It just seemed as though you, although very bright, do not know exactly what you are looking for. I provided explanations about each. There are many interpretations as to what the world is, and perhaps you are searching for the wrong aspect of it. Or perhaps i’m just completely wrong. Either way, I hope I helped in some form.

well, my friend, the good ‘ol internet. with accessing the white and/or yellow pages, you can list the store (type) and, oops – there it is (results that is). if you are from the area, even faster way would be to open the yellow pages & use the ‘ol peepers (eyes). you know, let your fingers do the walking? don’t know much more than that but if you knew a faster way, you wouldn’t have been asking, now isn’t that true?
