Tales of Terror From Tokyo and All Over Japan: Volume 1

Norio Tsuruta (premonition, ring 0)
Year of Release: 2003
Stars: Mei Kurokawa
Run Time: 75 minutes
DVD Studio: Tokyo Shock
Score:6/10
Review of the 2003 collection of short five minute horror stories from a variety of directors. These stories tend to focus on the traditional Japanese ghost elements as made popular in Ringu and Ju-on, so fans of those films might find these worth checking out. Some stories are also funny, and some are just strange. Overall, an interesting experiment in what makes a scary story effective or not.

I didn’t know anything about it other than the directors but after watching them I was very glad I got it. It’s definitely worth the price. There are a couple shorts that aren’t very good but the rest are great.
There is also a movie out that has 8 shorts that run between 5 to 19 minutes each. And you can get that from bestbuy for $14.99

i question of this movie: when did this movie come? because i can’t find it in stores here in sweden..
and another question: have you done a review of Reincarnation? if not please do one!
Of course you CAN …
Of course you CAN make powerful short films (of any genre) in 5 minutes (or 1 minute)the question is do you know HOW? It most likely will not be by trying to sustain/build a mood or develop character. But then that is where cinematic technique comes in (and centuries of Japanese story telling traditions). Inevitably, in a situation like this a few strong ones are going to have to carry poor or mediocre ones.
